Towson University Robbery Incident: Suspect Injured by Self-Inflicted Gunshot, Arrested
Authorities have confirmed that a man was arrested after sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound while allegedly attempting to carry out a robbery at Towson University on Thursday night.
According to university officials and Baltimore County Police, the incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. when Towson University Police responded to reports of possible gunfire in a stairwell inside Tower C, located in the 150 block of Cross Campus Drive.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an injured man who was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital. Officials confirmed that the injury—a gunshot wound to the lower body—was self-inflicted and not life-threatening.
During the investigation, authorities determined that the individual was not affiliated with Towson University as a student. Police further stated that the discharge of the firearm occurred while the suspect was in the process of committing a robbery. Fortunately, no other individuals were injured during the incident.
The suspect remains under investigation, and charges are pending as law enforcement continues to gather details. Officials emphasized that the situation appears to be isolated, with no ongoing threat to the campus community.
University representatives reiterated that firearms are strictly prohibited on campus grounds and confirmed that an internal review of the incident is underway.
