The Clarksburg community is grieving the loss of Albert Marano, the esteemed Harrison County Circuit Clerk and former sheriff, who passed away Thursday evening after a courageous battle with cancer.

Marano, a lifelong resident of Clarksburg, dedicated over three decades to law enforcement and public service in Harrison County. He began his career as a deputy sheriff, later rising to the role of chief deputy before becoming sheriff in 2008. He served two terms as sheriff, earning re-election in 2012, and went on to serve as circuit clerk starting in 2016, a position in which he continued his devotion to the community.

Known for his leadership, dedication, and tireless service, Marano was widely respected in Clarksburg and throughout the county. His passing has left a profound void among his colleagues, friends, and the residents who were touched by his service and character.
